In Mark Binellli’s article, “Kid Cannabis: The Wild Rise and Violent Fall of a Teenager Weed Kingpin”, Nate Norman and his friend Topher Clark come up with a million-dollar idea that changed their lives forever. The author tells the personal narrative about the two boys beginning with the birth of their idea while they were extremely stoned. Binelli begins the article with their iconic and never before thought of idea, leading into a background of their personal lives to give the reader an idea of their differing personalities and what to expect from the characters. This article has helped me in the ways I will develop my own personal narrative, making sure to give a background on myself and my experiences before diving into my development as a vegetarian and exactly what led me to alter my lifestyle. Throughout the story, the author would bring the article back to present day to give an ending to the “violent fall” of their “wild rise” before describing their entire journey. This gave insight to the ending of the story, making the reader curious as to what left them to be sitting in a federal prison. This narrative has helped me gain a greater understanding of how I will structure my own personal narrative and keep the reader interested.
